Ever wanted a macaw personality without the macaw size or noise???
Parrotlets are just what you are looking for! These amazing little creatures are the smallest of the parrot family.
Parrotlets are native to Central & South America and are closely related to Amazon Parrots. They are approximately 5 inches in length. Their natural colour in the wild is green but many "mutation" colours are available, for example: shades of blue, yellow, white and cinnamon. Parrotlets are active, spunky and playful birds, who can become very devoted to their human companions. They do not screech or scream like some parrots, but have a pleasant chatter and the ability to learn many words or phrases. As pets, parrotlets are better kept as a single bird, providing they are given a lot of human attention and toys to satisfy their interactive nature unless breeding is desired. An appropriately sized cage should be a minimum of 24 inches square with a 1/4 - 1/2 inch bar spacing. Their cage should be furnished with a swing and lots of toys that can be rotated and changed. These pint-sized birds come with big personalities; training and consistency is a must. Parrotlets eat a large amount of food for their size and like a varied diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts, rice, pasta and cooked beans
